About Us
A village pub at the heart of the community since 1997
In 1997, a planning application to turn the Mermaid Restaurant in the small village of Ivinghoe Aston into a private dwelling was rejected by the local council after a group of residents from the village objected and overturned the application.

As a result, a number of the villagers banded together and came up with a plan to buy the restaurant and run it as a pub themselves. In November 1997, the aptly renamed The Village Swan pub, was reopened.

Now ran by Nicole and her amazing team, the pub remains the beating heart of the village community.

The beer line up is changed regularly and will always have a tipple from one of the many local breweries on tap.
Service
First off, life revolves around the bar, so that's where to head for drinks, menus and to find out where you're sitting if you've booked.

If a table isn't reserved you're welcome to sit at it and have a bite to eat or drink. If you can't find a table, ask and we'll try to find one for you.

The tables in our garden are on a first come, first served basis.
Dogs
Dogs of the well behaved and 'on-the lead' variety are welcome in the bar area.

If you are booking a table and bringing a dog please make us aware so we can assign a specific table for you.
Children
Whilst primarily an adult's environment, children are still very welcome in areas away from the bar and especially in our large garden.

Across the road from the pub is a lovely play area, we have some bench seating at the front of the pub which looks over this area to keep an eye on the little ones.
Parties / Functions
If you wish to book an area of the pub for your event, please speak to one of the team or send us a message and we will do our very best to accomodate you.
Etiquette
We’re a relaxed pub and love a good pint by the fire after a good walk, so we welcome muddy paws and boots.
